Google+ has seen increased engagement for businesses using it for social media marketing in the last six month.

A report from Simply Measured suggests that Google+ may be picking up some traction, especially for companies using Google+ Pages as part of a social media marketing strategy. According to data from the last three months, Google+ Pages engagement has increased 112 percent. Companies of all kinds and sizes have found that prospects and existing customer on the site enjoy interacting with the content they share on Google+ While its engagement numbers are still lower than other major social sites, the growth in activity around Pages bodes well for Google+. Sixty-four percent of businesses studied by Simply Measured now have Google+ Pages, compared to 61 percent that indicated they had a Google+ presence in the same report one month after the launch of Pages. Engagement, however, has seen rapid improvement. Simply Measured said that images shared by the brands it measures have seen nearly 200,000 combined interactions, whether +1s, comments or shares. Moreover, average engagement per piece of content has grown substantially. Video content has grown from 66 interactions with followers per post to more than 115. Similar increases have occurred for images, links to website content and status updates. Trying to make content shared on Google+ asier to interact with has been a constant battle since the platform launched last June. Brafton recently highlighted its most recent attempt, Gmail inbox notifications, which allow users to +1 or comment on content shared with them on Google's network directly from their inboxes.
