LinkedIn Channels for Content Discovery

LinkedIn may be a social media company, but it's pushing its way toward content creation and aggregation rather swiftly. The network's LinkedIn Today feature recently went through a complete redesign, bringing fresher news content to the forefront of the user experience and highlighting graphics to increase clicks. The most notable new function is the addition of channels.

This tool allows LinkedIn members to follow more than 20 topics across various industries, including Your Career, Big Ideas and Higher Education. When social users follow any number of channels, they receive new social media content from credible publishers on their LinkedIn homepages.

This new feature is the latest step by LinkedIn to enter the custom content space, and since unveiling its recent mobile design, member page views have increased 63 percent. Clearly, LinkedIn understands that its audience embraces digital content as a way to keep up with the latest trends in their industries. Brafton reported on a study from Research Now and American Century Investments that showed LinkedIn is the most popular social network for financiers in the workplace. With new updates to the site, like the revamped LinkedIn Today, professionals will continue to flock to the media hub for additional news updates and trends reports.
