Google has added a Share button to its homepage to allow users to add content to Google+.

Google has added a Share button on its Google.com homepage, allowing users to share content on Google+ from the company's primary homepage. This is hardly the first attempt Google has made to make its social platform easier for users to access, and businesses should monitor resulting social media marketing opportunities.

While the search box is still the main feature and focus of the search homepage, the addition of the Share button indicates the company is fully invested in the unification of its services into one platform.

Users can share almost anything with the feature, as clicking on it opens the same menu Google+ account holders see when they access Google+.

Among the other updates that signal Google's aggressive move toward one all-encompassing service platform are its new privacy policy and Search, plus Your World. Both features were met with varying degrees of criticism from the public and Google's competitors.

For example, Brafton reported that 45 percent of a consumers say they do not like the idea of Google+ data influencing their search results. Meanwhile, Microsoft launched an ad campaign aimed at the privacy policy, essentially accusing Google of invasions of privacy.
