Study: Smartphones changing web content consumption
May 4th 2012, 13:55

An increase in smartphone ownership has led to a greater focus on site content that engages these always-connected users.

A report from eMarketer found that smartphone users are not only growing in numbers but evolving in terms of content consumption. According to the research, there are 115 million Americans with smartphones, which accounts for more than 47 percent of the mobile phone market in the United States. Their constant access to digital content gives internet marketers more opportunities to reach prospects. While calling, texting and other communication tasks account for the bulk of the time spent on these devices, web content consumption is growing as well. EMarketer pointed to smartphone gaming and music as two areas seeing rapid growth. Brafton has previously reported more smartphone users are accessing content related to products and social media pages. The eMarketer study estimates that more than 192 million smartphones will be in use by 2016, making clear that website content that appeals to mobile users will become increasingly important. Moreover, the types of content consumers demand will grow as well as the devices become more capable and relied upon for regular, constant access. "The smartphone class doesn't tolerate dull moments; members turn to their phones for instant gratification," the company said. Businesses will need to develop sustainable content marketing strategies that arm them with frequent updates to appeal to smartphone audiences, with eMarketer projecting that the internet-enabled devices will make up more than 74 percent of all mobile phones in the U.S. and nearly 60 percent of the total population. Marketers must adjust their campaigns to account for constant searches and website visits, and they should also consider smartphones' impact on email marketing. Brafton recently reported that mobile email open rates have increased 82 percent in the last year. Furthermore, it's expected that mobile email will surpass cloud-mail providers, such as Gmail and Hotmail, at some point in 2012.

Domain Name & Hosting untuk Bisnes
May 4th 2012, 09:13

May 3rd 2012, 21:52

Kata bijak pandai, sebelum berjaya, gagallah banyak kali.

Pening bukan? :)

Brafton: Google confirms Panda 3.6 update came on April 27

Google confirms Panda 3.6 update came on April 27
May 3rd 2012, 20:15

Google announced the roll out of Panda 3.6 recently, conforming that it launched on April 27.

Google has reportedly confirmed the launch of Panda 3.6 to Search Engine Land, which said the algorithm rolled out on April 27. The move capped off an especially hectic eight-day period for Google after rolling out Panda 3.5 on April 19 and its first Penguin algorithm on April 24. Google told SEL that the move is just another of the updates it makes regularly to ensure the highest quality results are delivered to its users. Like other Panda updates thus far in 2012, the 3.6 roll out was a fairly minor data refresh and likely affected very few websites. While Panda and Penguin focus on different elements of site quality, the pair of algorithms have made it made it increasingly clear that SEO campaigns must focus on the user experience. Developing website content that offers relevant information to users was (and is) critical with Panda, and Penguin highlights the need for a natural keyword strategy. Brafton recently highlighted that the first Penguin update looks to punish sites engaging in black hat SEO tactics - namely keyword spamming and link schemes. Companies using SEO should not abandon their campaigns, but any focus on attracting search crawlers that negatively impacts a quality user experience could hurt sites.

Brafton: Report: Travel marketers find new search audiences

Report: Travel marketers find new search audiences
May 3rd 2012, 16:30

Travel companies are seeing increased traffic from search engines as consumers look for more information.

A report on the travel industry from iPerceptions found that 27 percent of website visitors to various travel or hospitality websites landed on the page through search engines. Search traffic was bested only by direct website visits, which accounted for 28 percent of traffic to these sites, iPerceptions said. While making reservations was the No. 1 reason for search-derived website visits, 20 percent said they were looking for information on the best plans or deals for themselves (which would likely result in future purchases). The trend is just another example of increased use of search engines to research purchase decisions. Moreover, 14 percent of respondents said the reason they haven't made a purchase yet is that they're still looking. Businesses in the travel and hospitality industries can use these insights to develop a sound content marketing plan. Developing original branded content that addresses the issues prospects want to learn about can help a website move up search rankings for discovery, and providing the best information to users will help travel marketers appeal to online audiences, no matter how they land on a site. In terms of the hospitality industry, a local search strategy can be a great addition to the internet marketing arsenal. Nearby consumers looking for restaurant information are similarly inclined to use search to locate new options. Brafton recently reported that businesses can improve their local SEO campaigns by focusing on region-based keyword strategies and the use of services, such as Google Places, to ensure contact information is easy to find on SERPs.

Brafton: Social marketing metrics lag: 27 percent measure by ‘intuition’

Social marketing metrics lag: 27 percent measure by 'intuition'
May 3rd 2012, 15:30

Facebook and Twitter are among the companies to roll out social analytics reports, but many businesses are still relying on intangible data to guide their campaigns.

Despite widespread adoption of social media marketing and belief in its utility, many marketers have not adopted or developed metrics to assess social's bottom-line value to their organization. According to a study from PulsePoint, 27 percent of companies are relying on the intuition of their executives and another 28 percent don't measure the impact of social media marketing at all. Like other forms of internet marketing, it can be difficult at times to monitor social media contribution to a company. However, using such intangible metrics, such as intuition, can lead to imbalance and inaccurate understandings of social media marketing's true ability to add value to a business. There's a long-standing demand for social metrics, with reports from last year revealing that 80 percent of businesses felt they couldn't effectively gauge social ROI. Leading platforms offer some tools, like Facebook Insights and Twitter Web Analytics that provide click insights but they don't currently offer the type of engagement metrics that companies can place an exact dollar on. Marketers want to move toward viewing social as a tool likely to help guide prospects through conversion funnels to develop a picture of the economic value of their campaigns. Brafton recently reported that Google has rolled out Social Analytics Reports to help companies determine the value social efforts have on their conversions. As a prospect converts, the various channel he or she interacted with in recent days and weeks will be credited with a portion of the conversion and a "social assisted conversion" tool monitors the influence of exposure to social content.

Grocers can gain from SEO: Food shopping research heads online
May 3rd 2012, 14:30

Food shopping has become another task consumers are increasingly turning to the web to research.

A report from Integer Group and M/A/R/C Research suggests that Americans are using the web to research their food purchases, eMarketer relayed. Finding information on these items is increasingly important for many Americans, and consumers are turning to search engines for food reviews as well as nutritional information. Eighty-seven percent of female shoppers said that that they regularly turn to search engines to research the products they buy for themselves and their family members. Interestingly, web research was the most common task related to food shopping performed by female Americans. Turning to search engines actually outperformed making lists or using circulars mailed to them in terms of the most frequently used task. For men, the figure shrunk to 70 percent. However, it still was the most frequently cited task associated with preparation for food shopping. Food brands and grocers looking to attract these increasingly research-friendly food shoppers can use SEO and integrated content marketing campaigns to provide information about what they offer on shelves in an efforts to attract consumers. Moreover, a mobile web presence may help food companies or grocery store chains compete as an increasing amount of shoppers turn to their smartphones while shopping to research products. Brafton recently reported that 66 percent of consumers turn to their smartphones to compare prices and get more information on items while.
